Generally owned and managed by locals the standard is excellent and they are a great place to meet and mix with people from all walks of life. Usually located away from the city centre they provide a quiet, comfortable and safe place to relax after a hard day’s sightseeing. The standard varies with some offering en suite while others have shared facilities.
