Morris Hedstrom City Center is a modern multi-storey complex which emerged from the ashes of the original building which was destroyed by fire in the late 90′s. For years after that the land was left idle but was always owned by the same company. Currently, it is known as the largest shopping mall in Fiji with over twenty different stores, fifteen variety food stalls and almost ten trinket stalls. These stalls are a boon for small business owners who want to showcase their merchandise to a mass market.
The twenty stores operating in the mall consist of well known operators such as Jack’s of Fiji, Prouds, Adidas, Ripcurl, Vodafone, Digicel and sporting equipment giant, Sports World. MHCC also operates their own Pharmacy and Video rental store.
The food court, located on the second floor of the City Complex is a great place to relax after a days shopping and is always filled with families out for a treat, a group of friends eating after a good movie or meeting friends for coffee. Food outlets run the gamut of local and international selection with pizza, Chinese, Indian, Fijian and Middle Eastern available. They all offer good quality food, generous serves and fast and efficient service at competitive prices. You can order meals in the price range of $5 to $15. ‘Restaurant 88′, an individually located restaurant in the food court, has exceptional Chinese cuisine and great service, a must try for Chinese lovers.
MHCC is the only complex open 7 days a week from 9am – 9pm. This is an advantage particularly to the working public whose time to shop is restricted. It a great place to source anything from groceries to boutique wear and even handicraft.
The grocery outlet is always packed with shoppers day and night. It also boasts its own bakery with fresh bread baked everyday together with other delicious pastries and cakes lovingly baked and packed and presented for the hungry shopper.
Chill out and have a coffee at Gloria Jeans Café. It’s the place to catch up with friends and is always busy with patrons and people watchers alike frequenting the more than 50 tables.
MHCC has evolved into the ‘Meeting Place’ of central Suva and is truly a slice of city life here in Fiji.
